We are loving our new bathroom from Project Solutions! Amy listened to what we had in mind and made some great suggestions that got us to think outside the box, which is what we needed! Spending time looking through samples in their showroom helped us put things together and play around with different ideas. Once we had a design, and picked out fixtures, we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly the construction process was - from beginning to end it was only 4 weeks! We had the pleasure of working with Amy and her Project Solutions team over the last two years while building our new construction home in Door County.

From the beginning, Amy was fully engaged in helping us achieve our vision for our new home.  Knowing what we wanted to achieve, Amy was able to help us select all the materials, tile, flooring, countertops, cabinetry, fixtures etc., which was critical in achieving a cohesive look that supported our vision.   She and her team made what could have been a daunting task a wonderful and fun experience!  Given the Pandemic and supply issues – Amy was out in front of all of that to ensure we had what we needed to keep the project moving.    Her showroom and other resources she has gave us a lot of options to consider and she guided us through it all.  She was a true partner through the process and treats each project she has as if it were her own home!

Given we were out of town, having Amy as part of the team was critical to the success of our build.  We continue to tap into Amy for other décor decisions we are making as well as her knowledge of Door County as we transition to living on the peninsula.

We recently completed a renovation with Amy and her team. The revamp included our kitchen, two bathrooms, a closet addition to a bedroom, and new carpeting. We spent about $85,000 to complete the project. 

Amy elevated our “cabin-feel” cottage to a coastal retreat. We were out of town while the project was completed. We would occasionally drive to Door County to check the progress. How exciting it was to see the changes taking place! Our expectations were definitely met. 

Amy is a good listener. Right from the start, she listened to what we envisioned for our new home. When we sat down with her to pick the materials, including tile, countertops, and paint colors, she gave us many good suggestions because of her experience in the business.  

Her showroom is spectacular and a real benefit when putting a designer look together.  We were extremely happy with the team’s attention to detail. The project was a success. Our dream is a reality! My husband and I completely redid our entire home in Door County over the course of the last two years, and Amy was an invaluable partner during the entire process.  Not only was she a thought partner, but she was an amazing resource for finding all the other tools and tradespeople we needed for various aspects of the renovation.  Nothing went untouched, we gutted a kitchen, added a powder room, gutted and redid two full bathrooms, redid floors, updated fireplaces, new window treatments throughout, and she completely redid all bedrooms and other living spaces.

Amy was our “eyes and ears” on the ground since we weren’t in Door County during any of the renovations.  Amy’s design style is impeccable, and she was able to marry my husband’s vision and my vision together in a cohesive manner (not an easy feat!).

Amy helped us with every single aspect of the project -  she helped us pick tile, wallpaper, paint colors, fabrics, furniture, lighting, etc.  With the exception of 3 pieces of furniture that we kept, everything else was purchased new.  Amy handled the schedule for all projects and coordination of all deliveries.

Without Amy there for us, this project would have taken 10 times as long and not been done nearly as well.  She continues to be a pleasure to work with on every aspect of our home. She is also just a wonderful and kind woman; she went above and beyond finding places to donate our

furniture and other household items so that they could be used by someone that needed them rather than going to waste.

In late April, 2017, we contacted Amy in regards to a major redecorating project to our home built in 1998.  Amy worked with us through the entire process – from identifying our needs and shaping the project, to assisting in picking out paint, flooring, and carpet to selecting and scheduling the sub-contractors, and finally to overseeing the and managing the final implementation of all the components  and ensuring we were satisfied with the final results.

Our project included the following: 

• Removal of wallpaper and repainting (two bedrooms, office, and laundry)

• Removal of carpet and installation of new carpet (family room, three bedrooms, and stairs)

• Removal of old carpet and installation of manufactured flooring (office)

• Removal of carpet and installation of hardwood floors in living room and dining room (involved seamless integration of existing hardwood floor in kitchen and entry way)

• Installation and painting of all molding impacted by change in hardwood flooring

• Leveling of granite counter tops in kitchen, seam was out of alignment by a 1/4″

• Replacement of fabric blinds in master bedroom and bathroom

 

Amy did an outstanding job of understanding our needs and  timing while at the same time, being mindful of the cost of the project.  She demonstrated her professional project management skills in the scheduling and insightful coordination of not only the sub-contractors but also the impact the work would have on our personal lives, (we were living and working in our home at the time).  She carefully sequenced the work to ensure work was done by one contractor would not be at risk to damage by the next (i.e. making sure the painting was done before new flooring was laid, upstairs work done before downstairs.)  She also managed the risk of possible schedule delay (due to shipment delays) by having all products delivered to her warehouse before the project began. 

We knew we could contact Amy with any questions or problem and she would handle it in a professional and timely  manner. Her attitude was always positive and focused 100% of delivering a quality end product.  The sub-contractors reflected the same attitude for quality and customer satisfaction.  The project was completed in a timely manner exceeding our expectations and for a fair price.  

We love our freshly decorated home and would highly recommend Amy.

Last spring, my husband Tom and I decided to change the flooring to our entryway and powder room and turn an existing room into a first floor laundry room.  We set up a meeting with Amy Gulseth and the rest is history.  Not only does Amy have her design degree but she also has a manufacturing background, which sold us immediately.

Amy came to our home to assess our needs and began taking measurements for the plan.  While we never ever really discussed a budget, Amy was very mindful of costs of materials to use and finding the most efficient way to get the job done.  She is very organized and knew just how to prioritize the steps for a smooth progression.

One of the important aspects of Amy’s business is her access to the tradesmen, who respond quickly to her requests.  In our location it is nearly impossible to coordinate busy tradesmen for a job on one’s own.  We actually started on our project two weeks early and never had to wait for workers.  The men who worked on the job were polite, considerate and very good at what they did.

Amy was very good at keeping things going once we started and responded to emails or phone calls quickly.  We are thrilled with our new room which turned out even better than anticipated.  Amy was a pleasure to work with and certainly relieved the stress of doing it ourselves immensely.   We would recommend her highly!!

​The best word to describe Amy and her team is “INCREDIBLE”. We purchased a 30 year old condo in Sister Bay that needed extensive remodeling and didn’t know where to begin. We are from Illinois and had no idea who we could trust to do carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, etc. While opening an account at the local bank, the banker told us about Amy and Door County Design Works. What a life saver. Amy coordinated the whole project in a very calming and competent way. Complete painting, remodeling of 3 bathrooms, new solid oak doors and trim, new carpeting and updated electric work all took place while we lived in Illinois. Amy kept us updated during the whole project via phone and e-mails complete with progress pictures. The job was completed exactly on time and at the price quoted. No surprises at all except when we opened the front door for the 1st time to see how beautiful everything was. The condo was left in pristine condition completely clean.

We can’t recommend Amy and her team enough. When it’s time to do the kitchen we know who we will be relying on.
